Daniel is an Associate Director at Kiel Advisory Group, Organisational Psychologist and specialist in risk culture. He has extensive experience in evaluating and changing behaviour to improve risk management outcomes in leadership, functional and frontline teams globally. Daniel also brings deep technical expertise, having published research and presented at international conferences on decision making biases, learning of behaviours and formation of attitudes.

Prior to advisory work, Daniel was a senior member of the specialist Risk Culture team in the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s Internal Audit department. He led the introduction and integration of their 'Deep Dive' risk culture audit program performed by the specialist team, while supervising an enterprise-wide program of risk culture assessments performed by auditors and an analytics team. These included data collection and analysis tools through to Senior Executive and Board reporting. Previously at Macquarie Group, Daniel led risk culture and risk governance assessments in Australia, Asia, North America and the UK. He also implemented an annual cultural risk indicators assessment across the group. He was responsible for reporting to Senior Executives, developing thematic papers to the Board Audit Committee, and was invited to provide expert input to Board education sessions, Board self-assessments and Senior Executive offsites.

Daniel has a PhD in Psychology and has presented his research at international conferences and in several peer-reviewed publications. His published research spans decision making biases, learning of behaviours and the formation of attitudes. He has taught several undergraduate and postgraduate subjects including Cognitive Psychology, Business Ethics, and Strategic Human Resource Management. Daniel incorporates this thought leadership into industry research and advisory work.
