Our regulatory experience gives us distinctive insight into emerging expectations of Boards by supervisors globally. We take an holistic approach to Board effectiveness, considering traditional factors such as composition, contribution and capability, but also critical drivers of performance such as group dynamics, decision making and leadership, to provide independent feedback on the Board’s strengths and challenges as a governance body. We consider both the Board’s internal functioning, as well as its impact on key stakeholders, in particular the CEO and Executive team. Our assessments leverage many similar principles to our audit method, with a strong emphasis on objective and evidence-based analysis, triangulating perspectives and data from a broad range of sources. Importantly, we believe in constructive challenge. Our conclusions are not ‘tick-box’ exercises, but designed to facilitate reflection, genuine insight and continuous improvement.
